Hiking the Greek mountain countryside
Our hikes take place daily and last 4- 6 hours, following demanding yet carefully designed mountain trails. Guests move at their own pace, with a pause halfway through- fresh fruit, nuts, herbal tea offered in serenity.
Less fat, more muscle
Did you know that hiking at an incline of 3º to 7º helps you lose fat faster than running? These, daily hikes, in combination with the afternoon fitness classes and the professionally prepared dietary program guarantee weight loss while elevating the body muscle.
Nutritional, tasty, balanced diet
Daily meals are vegetarian, prepared by our private chef. Each guest receives their individual portion- no extras, no substitutions. The meals are designed to provide exactly the energy one needs for the day – no more, no less.
“Me time”
The Root’s intention is to disconnect from routine, from habit, from the noise of daily life. Inner dialogue is encouraged. Nature becomes the only interface.
Phone calls, if necessary, are to be made from the privacy of your room. You will share the hotel exclusively with fellow guests. No staff. No distractions.
Detox massage, Daily fitness classes
Each afternoon, following lunch, guests receive a 55’ massage to support physical release and deep rest after the morning’s ascent. Daily foot treatment, yoga, stretching and Pilates sessions are also offered.

All takes place in the private hotel “Diapori Suites”, reserved exclusively for The Root guests.

This rhythm is designed not to escape but to revive.
There are only 12 guests attending at The Root.
Preparation
- No advanced fitness is required but we do recommend that towards the arrival date you gradually enhance your cardiovascular endurance.
- For optimal results, we also advise reducing caffeine and alcohol two weeks before the program begins.
Digital Silence
- Wi-Fi is available in your room and the public areas.
- We request that all mobile phones and digital devices remain silent in public spaces. Necessary calls should be made discreetly, from the privacy of your room.
Food as Discipline
- Our cuisine is clean, plant-based, and deeply nourishing. Locally inspired recipes are prepared by our in-house chef with a focus on vegetables, fruits, legumes and nuts.
- There is neither caffeine nor alcohol available throughout the program. No requests for “more” or “less.” Each guest receives one carefully prepared portion per meal, enough to fuel the day, not distract from it.
Sustainability & Laundry
- In respect to the natural ecosystem, laundry service is available twice weekly. Please pack accordingly.

What To Bring
Necessary to have
• 1 Trail-running pair of shoes with an aggressive sole. Buy these in time and break them in, wear them a few times before The Root starts (A sturdy sole is very important – as all trails are rocky)
• 1 Camel pack with bladder – at least 1.5lt, ideally 2.0lt
• 1 Walking / trekking sticks (preferably telescopic)
• 3 Long sleeved, light colored, quick dry shirt
• 1 Swimsuit
• 1 Buff (neck protection)
• 3 Hiking socks (smart wool or similar)
• 1 Sunhat
• 2 Long pants
• 1 Warm fleece jacket
• 1 Sandals for walking around the property
• 1 Lightweight rain jacket
• 3 T-shirts (dry-fit)
• 1-2 Yoga attire
